Tehran Symphony Orchestra to perform in Vahdat Hall
TEHRAN – The Tehran Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Manuchehr Sahbai is scheduled to hold its first autumn concert at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on September 28.
Sahbai will lead the orchestra through a collection of classical pieces, including Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 and the first part of Brahms' Symphony No. 4, as well as Dance in Semnan by Hossein Nasr, and Hungarian Dances No. 1, 4, 5, and 10.
Symphony No. 7 is one of Beethoven's most well-known pieces. It was composed in 1812 and is known for its rhythmic and energetic nature. The second movement, in particular, is famous for its hauntingly beautiful melody.
Brahms' Symphony No. 4 is another famous symphony from the Romantic era, composed by Johannes Brahms in 1885. The first part of the symphony, which will be performed, is known for its brooding quality, with a sense of foreboding that builds throughout the movement.
Dance in Semnan is a work by the Iranian composer Hossein Nasr, originally composed for Persian instruments. It has been arranged for Western instruments and will be performed by the Tehran Symphony Orchestra in this format. The piece is named after the city of Semnan in northern Iran and is known for its lively and rhythmical character.
Hungarian Dances No. 1, 4, 5, and 10 were composed by Brahms, inspired by traditional Hungarian folk music. They are characterized by lively rhythms, energetic melodies, and a sense of high-spiritedness. Each of the four dances selected to be performed has its unique character and is especially popular among music lovers.
